Arsenal transfer rumours

Arsenal are “too far away” from Houssem Aouar’s value, says Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.

“Arsenal not saying anything about their interest in Lyon’s Houssem Aouar,” Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth told The Transfer Show on Monday.

“The Lyon president is saying plenty though. Jean-Michel Aulas has intimated Arsenal have made an offer, which falls well below Lyon’s valuation – thought to be in excess of £50m.

“He went on to say he is counting on Aouar to play for Lyon this season. Significantly, what he hasn’t said is Aouar is not for sale.

“There is an argument to suggest this is the optimum time for Lyon cash in – Aouar has three years left on his contract and the club will not have the shop window of European football to showcase his talents this season.

“Last month, Lyon’s Sporting Director Juninho claims Arsenal failed with a bid for Aouar – Arsenal had wanted to include midfielder Matteo Guendouzi as part of the deal.

“As for Arsenal’s interest in Thomas Partey, Atletico Madrid are not budging on the £45m release clause.

“Partey’s contract runs until 2023 – and he came off the bench for the last 19 minutes of the victory over Granada at the weekend.

Arsenal also remain in talks with Atletico Madrid over midfielder Lucas Torreira.

“Atletico still want to do a loan, while Arsenal want to sell to generate money to fund a move for the likes of Aouar and Partey.

Torino were in talks over a move for Torreira, but their Director Davide Vagnati says a move is unlikely as they cannot finance a permanent deal.

Bayer Leverkusen still want Sead Kolasinac, but any deal is likely to happen late in the window as they have to offload players first.

“It is thought Kolasinac would welcome a return to Germany for family reasons.

Napoli’s move for Sokratis looks increasingly unlikely as the Italian club appear to be keeping Kalidou Koulibaly.

“Arsenal would listen to offers for Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi – neither of who are in their squad to face Liverpool tonight – but as yet, no concrete interest.”
