Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of killing civilians in missile attack – hrs after truce

Azerbaijan has accused Armenia associated with attacking its cities overnight within violation of a ceasefire less than a time old.

Nine civilians were killed and 30 injured when missiles fired at Ganja, Azerbaijan’s second-biggest city, hit the residential building, authorities said.

Another city, Mingachevir, seemed to be attacked by missiles, according to the prosecutor general’s office.

Armenian officials in the Nagorno-Karabakh region refused the claims and said it had been sticking to the Russia-brokered truce offer, which came into force noon upon Saturday.

They produced counter-claims that Azerbaijani forces experienced shelled Stepanakert overnight, the region’s capital, and other towns.

Fighting had been taking place since 27 September over debated Nagorno-Karabakh.

It is based on Azerbaijan but is populated plus ruled by ethnic Armenians who seem to shun the Azeri government.

It is the biggest flare-up in the discord since a separatist war finished in 1994.

The particular reports of fighting come hrs after foreign ministers from the 2 countries signed a truce within Moscow following the intervention of Ruskies President Vladimir Putin.

The offer said the ceasefire should result in talks on settling the issue.

On Sunday early morning, the situation was “relatively calm”, based on Nagorno-Karabakh leader Arayik Harutyunyan, along with just a few “skirmishes”.

Nevertheless , he said it was unclear just how long the lull in fighting would certainly last.
