Shrewsbury earned their first Little league One win of the season because Leon Clarke’s last-gasp header guaranteed a 1-0 victory away in AFC Wimbledon.
Wimbledon nearly opened the scoring right after 15 minutes as Steve Seddon’s mix found Joe Pigott at the considerably post but his header had been straight at goalkeeper Deyan Iliev.
Pigott was included again after 30 minutes, driving ahead and playing in Ryan Longman who hit a low shot simply wide from six yards.
Wimbledon created another good possibility just before half-time. Ethan Chislett’s dinked cross found Seddon unmarked in the far post and his shot pushed Iliev to save with his feet.
Straight after half-time, Shrews forward Jason Cummings found room in the Wimbledon area but their shot deflected narrowly wide.
Pigott went close once again 20 minutes from time, their 25-yard shot was heading to the top corner but Iliev likely over the bar.
Nevertheless , Shrewsbury finally broke the deadlock in the final minute as Clarke headed in from point-blank variety following a deep corner from Josh Vela.
