Callum Johnson provides questioned whether Joshua Buatsi can risk his ‘Golden Boy’ position in a domestic shootout, if their British rival extends his ideal record this weekend.
Buatsi is targeting his thirteenth straight victory against Marko Calic on Sunday, survive Sky Sports , and Manley has been mentioned as a future challenger for the unbeaten 27-year-old.
But the former world title opposition believes Buatsi has been carefully led by promoters Matchroom and is waiting around to discover if the Olympic bronze medallist will pursue a showdown in between two of Britain’s most forceful fighters at 175lbs.
“Let’s be honest, he is Matchroom’s ‘Golden Boy’, or one of them, inch Johnson told Atmosphere Sports . “He has got luggage and bags of talent plus he’s potentially going to be a planet champion and bring massive battles for Matchroom. It would be stupid to allow them to take any risks.
“He’s a fighter at the end of the day and can only fight who is put in front side of him. He’s done every thing asked of him.
“You can’t take anything far from him, but where his profession has stalled, obviously a little bit, yet I know all about that myself a lot more than anybody. I feel for him right now there. ”
Johnson floored the fearsome Artur Beterbiev in the only career defeat, while discussions for another world title fight against Dmitry Bivol fell through and the big-hitting Boston man believes he techniques too much of a risk to the division’s top talent.
“If I was a world champ, or I was ahead [in the rankings], I wouldn’t want to fight me personally, I’ll be honest, if I didn’t need to, ” said Johnson, who was ended in an exciting IBF title battle with Beterbiev in 2018.
“Obviously there’s been talks with Bivol a couple of times, which never materialised. Yet why would Bivol want to combat me, if he doesn’t have in order to because I’m probably not the biggest associated with names.
“I’m properly behind him in terms of rankings plus things like that, so all We bring to Bivol is problems actually.
“As a jet fighter it is frustrating when you get these types of opportunities mentioned to you and they avoid materialise. It does frustrate you. inch
A European name clash with Igor Mikhalkin have been scheduled in May for Johnson, who seem to hopes to receive news soon regarding his next fight, and the 35-year-old is eager to sharpen his harmful skills for Buatsi.
I just think his style and exactly what he brings, it doesn’t pose me personally too many threats. I just feel I might get to him and catch your pet and do him.

“Personally, I’d like two fights then Buatsi, ” he said. “I think the public deserves us each to be at our very best and it is only fair that I get a few fights before that.
“One thing for sure, he’s going to obtain a couple of fights in before this. Let’s have it on an even actively playing field. I genuinely believe the very best me beats the best him. Handful of fights and I’ll be ready to go.
“I just think I’ve obtained what it takes to beat him. He or she gets hit. He likes to business shots himself and apart from Beterbiev, I had my moments with your pet, but there’s not many fighters that may stand and trade with me.
“I can box perfectly as well, so I just think his design and what he brings, it doesn’t create me too many threats. I just really feel I would get to him and capture him and do him.
“Again, it’s all subjective, it might be all opinions. There’s a lot of people out there that will think he’ll beat me plus there’s a lot of people that think I’ll defeat him. Until that happens, we is not going to know anyway. ”
