Liverpool are understood to have questioned the Premier League to investigate the use of VAR in two controversial choices during their 2-2 draw at Everton on Saturday.
The particular Premier League champions were refused a derby-day win when Michael jordan Henderson’s stoppage-time strike was eliminated for a borderline offside against Sadio Mane.
Liverpool had been also unhappy that no motion was taken against Jordan Pickford after the Everton goalkeeper’s knee-high problem on Virgil van Dijk within the opening minutes. Van Dijk had to be replaced and was sent to medical center for a scan after the game.
Liverpool are understood to get asked the Premier League to check into why Pickford’s tackle was not viewed by the VAR official, David Coote, as well as to explain how Mane had been adjudged to have been offside for that disallowed Henderson goal.
Liverpool have also queried at which stage Coote decided to freeze the framework to assess the Mane offside.
Jurgen Klopp was mad with the officials’ decisions after the video game, saying: “I came into the dressing up room and there were people standing up there saying they’d watched the particular [VAR disallowed goal] situation as well as they were saying they didn’t discover why they whistled offside.
“I’m really in support of VAR and especially along with offside you expect that the right choice would be made. We scored an objective one time at Aston Villa plus they said the armpit was offside! It sounds funny, but we started using it.
“This time, the particular picture I saw once was that there was not an armpit call, it was simply offside. Since then, I’ve had regarding 10 interviews and everybody informs me that it was not offside and this will not lift my mood, obviously.
“It’s tricky, yet we’ve lost one player in times where VAR was not involved [Pickford on Van Dijk] and maybe another one in debt card situation [Richarlison on Thiago Alcantara], plus we’ve scored a legitimate goal which usually didn’t count. It was obviously not really our day but it was the efficiency I wanted to see. ”
There may not have been fans within the stands but Everton and Gatwick served up a classic Merseyside derby in their 2-2 draw at Goodison Park. But there were three crucial moments which fans from each sides will be talking about for a long time ahead.
Sadio Mane obtained Liverpool off to a flying start together with his finish on three minutes yet Jordan Pickford’s bad challenge upon Virgil van Dijk – which usually forced the defender off yet saw the keeper escape abuse – was a pivotal moment upon six minutes.
Michael Keane pulled Everton level midway with the first half and after Mohamed Salah’s super strike on 72 moments, Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his amazing scoring streak with another Everton equaliser 10 minutes from time.
But there were more twists to come with Richarlison shown the red card for a bad problem on Thiago right after referee Michael Oliver had blown his whistle for the foul by Yerry Mina upon Mane, before the Liverpool forward had been controversially adjudged offside in the build-up to Jordan Henderson’s injury-time hit.
