Ross Barkley’s stunning stoppage-time champion fired Aston Villa up to 2nd as they maintained their perfect begin to the season with a 1-0 victory in Leicester.
Villa appeared to be suffering a hangover off their 7-2 victory over Liverpool because their 100 per cent record was times away from ending in a stalemate in the King Power Stadium, but Barkley lashed an unstoppable long-range work past Kasper Schmeichel in the initial minute of injury-time to keep Leader Smith’s side perfect.
Barkley’s second Villa goal covered a fourth-straight win for their new club which lifts all of them up to second in the Premier Little league and confirms the club’s greatest start to a campaign in ninety years.
Injury-hit Leicester remain fourth after suffering back-to-back home defeats either side from the international break.
