Belgium say De Bruyne is not “fit enough” to function in Wednesday’s match against Iceland, and the midfielder has now returned in order to Manchester City for further assessment.
Belgium manager Roberto Martinez played throughout the severity of the situation in his post-match comments after the England defeat.
“I would not say that Kevin is injured… he said he or she felt something, ” Martinez mentioned.
“It is too early to find out what he has, but he failed to feel 100 per cent. It was instead a precautionary change. ”
